Game Designer

Early access

Design the game, not the document.

Game Designer, from GreenMind Media, is where a team writes a game's design. Write your systems as rules you can cite, your numbers as parameters, your catalogues as grids and your open questions next to the rule they are about.

A Timer system in Game Designer: a statement of intent, then numbered rules with their run length and tide step shown as chips, beside a panel for comments, checks and history.
A system: every rule has an address you can cite, and every number is a parameter.

Who it is for

It is for teams who have outgrown a folder of documents and sheets. Design written in prose has to be read and translated by hand into config, tickets and code. Here the prose stays, and every rule, number and catalogue row underneath it is something the rest of the work can point at.

What it does

  • Systems you can cite

Write systems, screens and areas as a tree of rules, intent and examples, with parameters, glossary terms and links inline.

  • Catalogues as grids

Define your entity types and edit them as grids, so characters, items and cards stay in one structured place.

  • Questions where they belong

Pin open questions and decisions to the rule they are about, instead of losing them in a chat.

  • Milestones and platforms

Scope the work with milestones, and say which platforms you ship on and what every part must meet.

  • Edit together, live

Several people edit the same page at once, comment and suggest changes, and go back to any version.

  • Take it with you

Export your design, send its work to Linear, and keep a copy in Google Drive.

Catalogues your whole team can edit

Cards, monsters, characters: each entity type is a catalogue. Its fields are the columns, its entities the rows.

How it works with the rest

It works on its own. These connections are there when you want them, and each is something you turn on.

OnlyLore
A game cites its universe's canon instead of copying it, and is told when a citation no longer matches.
GreenMind Publishing
Parameters and entity types bind to a project's config, so the design is the one place to change them. Test environments follow the design, and production waits for a person to release the change.
Ensemblis
A game links to an Ensemblis project for its score.
GreenMind Marketing
A brand that markets the game gets a store brief from its design, turns what ships into posts, and files themes from players' feedback back into the game.
Your AI assistant
An assistant connected by signing in with GreenMind reads the games you pick, and proposes or applies changes only where you allow it.
